You must love God more than you love your earthly family. It's saying that God gave you these people on earth to make you happy. You must love the one who created you and your earthly family and friends more important. If it hadn't been for the one who created you and them, none of you would be here to know each other.
Written by John the apostle and it was made for the Christian community In 2:15 he is telling us to hate the world.
Jesus’ cursing of the unfruitful fig tree presents Christians with a dilemma unique in the Gospels. A cursory reading of the text portrays Jesus as acting quite out of character, using his divine power in selfish anger to curse a mere tree because it did not act contrary to nature by providing him fruit out of season to satisfy his hunger.
This is a letter from Paul to the church of Corinth. This does not say everything, in fact this isn't even the entire verse. This is just a popular verse for criticism of the Bible. The real meaning of this verse is that if you don't believe in the resurrection, then your entire faith is worthless, this is not saying " well, if you don't believe in Christ, then your faith is basically dead." NO!!!! If you don't believe in the resurrection then there is no Christ in Christianity! Basically you are saying that this is a religion based off of a guy who DIED for us. Who, just went around saying that he was THE son of god. This I think was a message to the people to tell them to shape up their faith.
Its saying you don’t have to hate them you just have put them second God is first. Jesus is teaching about what it was going take to be his follower saying on discipleship. Dedication to God needs to be all in.
This verse isn't taken out of context a lot that I can see, it is just confusing. It is also worded weirdly. You should be nice to people so they wont judge you. Jesus is giving a sermon here. Basically he is saying that the way you treat others is the way you treat God.
David is talking. He is talking about the fools. David says that in their hearts there is no God. Then he says that God will punish the wicked. Psalm 14:1
This meme explains that many people these days choose money over God. People should not choose money over God because without God there would be no money (or love or life) without God there wouldn’t be anything. We shouldn’t pick money over God because, God put us on the earth and because he's awesome! If we loved money over God we wouldn’t be as strong in our Catholic faith. God brought money to us so we could eat, have shelter, (etc..) and be healthy without money we could not live but, without God we wouldn't have a chance to live on earth for even a second. This is written in a letter to from Paul. It's kind of like orders given to soldiers. Timothy worked with non Jews and non Christians so he had a lot to do. This happens in Ephesus. Timothy's job is to help the rich learn how to use their money for the poor. SO CHOOSE GOD OVER MONEY BECAUSE GOD IS AMAZING!
Paul is explaining that the resurrection of the body is real. He is doing this because the Corinthians believe that there is no resurrection but still believe that Jesus resurrected, which makes no sense. These people can't and shouldn't believe there is no resurrection of the body and still believe that Jesus had resurrected. The people of Corinth were very immoral and it took Paul a lot of work to try to convince them.
Actually he’s just having an out of body experience. Everything he eats tastes like ashes. Everything he drinks tastes like salty tears. He's embracing all the pain and suffering of his own sin.
These people think that God is not there when you need you need him but he really is.
It means that you are free to do whatever you want but it may not be right or good. Corinth was filled with people in pagan cults and people who did whatever they felt like. It wasn’t right or good for them but they still did it.
